John Denver is a popular musician and singer who has touched a lot of people with his songs. Many of these were inspired by Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in affection with Colorado and later moved to Aspen. Denver's songs that he sang about his home state inspired many visitors to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame said: "I don't believe there anyone else who has as much a connection to Colorado as John Denver." Denver, the Hall of Fame's initial inductee, was honoured with the award in the year 2011. Today he personifies the state to people around the world. You meet people in other countries, like New Zealanders. They say "I am from Colorado" then they immediately reply by saying Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief period in small folk ensembles. Danoff was credited with Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the song, but Denver realized that it could become a smash hit when the song was first heard by him. The song was recorded just two weeks following that Washington D.C. performance.
